＝ヴァハマン彗星の軌道計算の結果、2006年5月25日に地球に衝突する
可能性が高いと発表した。
Schwassman-Wachmann彗星は太陽系の黄道面に交差する5年周期の軌道を
まわっている。何世紀もの間この彗星はこの5年の軌道を回っていたが、
1995年に断片に分裂した。
彗星の経路に関するNASAのシミュレーションを使用し、ジュリアン氏は
彗星は地球の黄道面と交差する5月25日頃に、衝突するであろうとの結論
に至った。
